Practicing psychotherapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York

Hello! Thank you for your time and interest in my work! My name is Sam. I’m a first generation queer Asian American practicing as a licensed mental health counselor for 8 years.

I could bore you with my educational and professional credentials, but I’d like to tell you more about me. Beyond the therapy room, I am someone who thinks deeply about my role in relationships and interpersonal dynamics. I’m also someone who dives into art projects and will likely have an unfinished project in a corner!

I always tell my clients that their feelings are legitimate. If you’re here because something feels off or hard – that’s all the reason I need. My approach draws from Feminist and Relational Theories that addresses the capitalism and oppressive world we exist in. My work is centered around cultural competence and that means I won’t tell you to “just set a boundary” without recognizing the nuances that exists in our identities as people of a diaspora.

I would like to help you with self-discovery, building insight and awareness, exploring authenticity, and honoring your unique story as a human being navigating this thing called life.

I also have experience with but not limited to depression, anxieties, LGBTQ+ related issues, intersectional identities, intergenerational trauma, and relational & interpersonal difficulties and other jargon and diagnoses found in the DSM.
